TOSHI TEX

Weaving and knitting come together

The founding owner Kaneko, Toshiyuki, has 40 years of experience as a weaver. An inventor himself, Kaneko created a unique three-dimensional “pleat weave” method – the fabric is woven so that it forms pleats, saving the normal process of a machine press. Another novelty is the “inside-clipping” – excess weft yarns are trimmed, folded in between double layers of sheer fabrics, and left visible as a part of the design. The company also produces knits with an Italian Russel machine. Again, Kaneko devised how to knit metal chain directly onto fabrics, saving time and labour for production. This innovative knits were highly appreciated by international fashion brands and have appeared on Paris Fashion Week’s catwalks. Usually, the company starts from making bespoke yarns. At other times, unusual yarns such as shredded kimono fibre, or extra thin or thick yarns, are used. Toshi Tex is constantly exploring weaving and knitting creativity.
