KIRYU KENSHOKU

KIRYU KENSHOKU

Leading maker with versatility

This well-established manufacturer operates in a 70-year-old wooden factory with iconic sawtooth roofs. Kiryu Kenshoku has grown with its woven silk exports. Jacquard, taffeta, and heavy satin were in high demand for lining women’s fur coats in North America and Europe. The product lines have greatly diversified since then, both in terms of material and weaving style, using new machines to keep up with fast-changing fashion world. The company takes the smallest lot orders with fil-coupé jacquard, putting in time and effort via the craftsmen’s hands. Gocho Akira, the owner and the chairperson of Kiryu Weaver’s Cooperative Association, believes that “fine craftsmanship by hand, rather than machine, can best reveal the beauty of jacquard.” The same attitude developed the company’s quick sample production system. As quality products require excellent service, the sales team is well trained at the factory for better correspondence with clients.
